Alpaca facts
The alpaca is a member of the camel family, with the lesser vicuna as its closest relative. Like all camelids, alpacas have two toes with soft tread pads and claws, enabling gentle movement in terrain. They are ruminants and have three stomachs. Alpacas are famous for their amazing wool. They originate from the Andes, with 87% of the world's alpaca population still found in Peru.
